                  Class descriptions

                  • Classes follow the traditional methods of Ashtanga Vinyasa yoga and the Jivamukti yoga method
                  • All classes are casual/drop in unless specified otherwise
                  • Classes are held throughout the year (except for the Christmas break and public holidays) and continue during school holidays
                  • Note the hall is not available on some days - see class timetable

                  Ashtanga Vinyasa beginners


                  Ashtanga Vinyasa beginners is an introduction to Ashtanga yoga which focuses on the breath and the fundamental postures of the first series with guidance, assistance and demonstration throughout. Each week there will be a different emphasis on the eight limbs of yoga.  

                  This class is suitable for those with little or no yoga background.

                  Ashtanga Vinyasa open

                  Ashtanga Vinyasa open class follows the fundamental postures of the Primary Series sequence with guidance, explanation and demonstration. 

                  Class is suitable for those with some/limited yoga background as well as those with more experience.  Assistance and adjustments will be provided as necessary.

                  Mysore Style

                  Mysore Style class is a self practice class.  Anyone can drop in and practice Mysore style on Tuesday nights.  Students go through the sequence at their own pace according to their own ability and may receive guidance, assistance and adjustments as necessary and where possible.

                  Jivamukti open

                  An open class consists of flowing vinyasa sequences partnered with Sanskrit chanting, traditional Vedic and contemporary teachings and commentary, breath awareness, meditation, hands-on alignment, and relaxation.  Exuberant, eclectic music also plays an integral role. 

                  Jivamukti yoga focuses on showing kindness and compassion to all beings including animals. Class is suitable for those with some yoga background as well as more experienced practitioners.
